In 1999, Bettinelli-Olpin directed Alkaline Trio's first music video, "Goodbye Forever”. Bettinelli-Olpin joined forces with Chad Villella and Rob Polonsky and created a group called Chad, Matt & Rob in 2007. One of the most famous short videos is a found footage style video Roommate Alien Prank Gone Bad.

They also directed five series of Interactive Adventures. Their short videos were hit over 100,000,000 times.

After Chad, Matt & Rob went their own way; Radio Silence was created with Tyler Gillett, Justin Martinez and Chad Villella, Bettinelli-Olpin. They directed the third part of V/H/S, which premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival .The segment was titled 10/31/98. Their segment was shot over four days around Los Angeles in August 2011.

Their first full length film is Devil’s Due, a found footage movie which will be released in January 2014.
