Radio Silence is a Los Angeles movie directors and producers four member team.
Radio Silence was formed in 2011 by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, Justin Martinez and Chad Villella.
Tyler Gillett was born and raised in Flagstaff, AZ.
Justin Martinez comes from Tucson, AZ where he graduated from University.
Villella came from Punxsutawney, PA and he graduated from Mercyhurst College. Chad created the Center for Information Research Analysis and Training (CIRAT)
Bettinelli-Olpin is originally from Oakland, California, where he attended the University of California, Santa Cruz. Bettinelli-Olpin played guitar, sang backing vocals and wrote the texts for the songs in the Bay Area punk band Link 80 in 1993. Later on, Bettinelli-Olpin worked as a music journalist. In 1999, Bettinelli-Olpin directed Alkaline Trio's first music video, "Goodbye Forever”. Bettinelli-Olpin joined forces with Chad Villella and Rob Polonsky and created a group called Chad, Matt & Rob in 2007. They became famous for their videos with a mixture of comedy, adventure, sci-fi and horror.
One of the most famous short videos is a found footage style video Roommate Alien Prank Gone Bad.
They also directed five series of Interactive Adventures. Their short videos were hit over 100,000,000 times.
After Chad, Matt & Rob went their own way; Radio Silence was created with Tyler Gillett, Justin Martinez and Chad Villella, Bettinelli-Olpin. The team was brought into the V/H/S movie fold after producer Brad Miska saw Mountain Devil Prank Fails Horribly. They directed the third part of V/H/S, which premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival .The segment was titled 10/31/98. Their segment was shot over four days around Los Angeles in August 2011.
Their first full length film is Devil’s Due, a found footage movie which will be released in January 2014. It is expected that the movie will rise above the other found footage sub-genre and the other movies with similar theme including the famous “Rosemary’s Baby” and multi-million dollar production “End of Days”.
